# Edinburgh Community Yoga
Edinburgh Community Yoga is a not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to making yoga accessible to everyone across Edinburgh. Operating from EH10 4HJ, they are Scotland's most established yoga outreach organisation, currently delivering 13 community and socially prescribed yoga projects that reach approximately 360 people monthly—many of whom have no access to traditional yoga studios.
Their inclusive approach serves a remarkably diverse demographic, with students ranging from ages 5 to 95 across all genders and ethnicities. ECY distinguishes itself through a deeply respectful approach to yoga practice, honouring its South Asian philosophical roots whilst remaining authentic to their Western cultural context. This commitment to the holistic nature of yoga—beyond physical postures—underpins their trauma-informed teaching methodology.
Beyond community outreach, Edinburgh Community Yoga offers comprehensive workplace wellbeing programmes addressing stress in high-pressure environments, alongside yoga teacher training and continuing professional development courses. They provide both 200 and 300-hour yoga teacher training with specialised add-on modules.
What truly sets ECY apart is their social enterprise model: every penny generated through classes, retreats and fundraising directly funds their expanding outreach initiatives. Their finalist status in the Social Enterprise Awards Scotland further validates their innovative approach to community health and accessibility. By combining professional expertise with genuine community commitment, Edinburgh Community Yoga demonstrates that quality yoga practice can be genuinely inclusive and transformative.
