# Cambridge Ashtanga Yoga
Cambridge Ashtanga Yoga is a community-focused studio offering traditional ashtanga yoga instruction led by siblings Ricky and Tara, both extensively trained in this classical yoga practice. Located at the University Centre Main Hall in Cambridge CB5 8DT, the studio serves practitioners of all levels, from complete beginners to experienced yogis seeking deepened practice.
The studio specialises in Mysore-style classes, where students move through the set ashtanga sequence at their own pace whilst receiving personalised instruction and hands-on adjustments from qualified teachers. This approach allows each individual to progress according to their own body and breath, making ashtanga accessible regardless of prior experience. The teachers provide both verbal cues and tactile support, though students can always opt out of adjustments without explanation.
What distinguishes Cambridge Ashtanga Yoga is their commitment to accessibility and community building. They offer a free four-session Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga course for newcomers, removing financial barriers to starting practice. Beyond guided classes, they foster a self-practice community where people can practice together independently, creating a supportive environment for shared yoga journeys.
Ricky's training spans San Francisco, Taipei, and London, whilst Tara trained in Rishikesh. Together, they aim to establish ashtanga as a cornerstone of Cambridge's yoga culture, welcoming both residents and visitors into their welcoming community.
**Note:** The studio is currently closed until May 2026.
